1983 Fender Stratocaster – “Smith Strat” – Sienna Burst – Upgraded w/ Noiseless Pickups & Roller Nut

Here’s a special piece of Fender history: a 1983 Fender Stratocaster, affectionately known as a “Smith Strat” — named after then-Fender CEO Dan Smith, whose efforts helped return the brand to high-quality U.S. production during a critical transitional era.

This example comes in a gorgeous Sienna Burst, one of the most distinctive finishes of the early ’80s, with a comfortable contoured body and top-notch craftsmanship. Unlike the later '80s and '90s production, these Smith Strats were made in Fullerton, California, and feature unique traits like a smaller headstock, “top hat” knobs, and a 4-bolt neck plate — a return to many vintage-inspired specs just before the American Standard line launched.

This one has been thoughtfully upgraded with a roller nut for improved tuning stability (especially helpful with trem use), and a set of Fender Noiseless Strat pickups that provide classic single-coil tone without the hum.

In very good to excellent condition, this guitar shows only minor playwear for its age. It plays beautifully, sounds rich and articulate, and retains all the vintage vibe with modern performance improvements.
